Satine

Well I watched Moulin Rouge last night and got inspired to do a painting of Satine the main character. I haven't finished the painting yet but decided to scan it in and have a play around with it, I really need to learn how to use something like Photoshop, this one was just done with the paint tools. I added highlights to the eyes and played around with the background and some other elements. Just thought I'd post it and see what people think is the best software to use for something like this as I'd like to learn.............

That's such a beautiful film isn't it? I like the pink textured background :)

I love your painting of Satine - finished or not! Thanks for the kind comment you left on my blog. I am a fellow Aussie (from Perth). Your blog is full of good things and I am now going off to explore it.

Here you go again Nic - evolving! What a wonderful, sultry expression on Satine's face. I like the textured background too. Well done!

Hi Nicola! Wow, I love the gorgeous, vibrant reds in this piece! Thank you for such a lovely comment over on my blog. In answer to your question about how I do my pieces:
I usually start with collaging scraps of paper for a background. By this point I usually have an idea what I want the image to look like. Then I seal the collage work with acrylic medium gel (this usually gives it more texture. Then I paint and print with acrylics, inks, oil pastels and anything going until I'm happy with the way it looks. Hope this helps!!:-)
