'Midnight Temptation' and Illustration Friday 'Beneath'

I think this piece that I worked on this week fits the Illustration Friday theme of Beneath! The two figures beneath this tree are being tempted but which one do you think will succumb?

I used some texture paste on the tree to make it stand out and the paint is acrylic. I really enjoy this style as I just run with my idea and see where it takes me, the name of the piece just comes to me as I work on it. I start with a sketch with no paticular colour or design in mind and I find it takes on it's own personality as I work on it.

It's really good for me to work on these paintings in between this big commission that I've been working on as the commission is the total opposite, detailed, and very well planned. I'm about to start on my last piece of the 3 paintings and can't wait to show you when it's finished.

I've had a couple of exciting days on the jewellery front too, 6 sales in 24 hours!!! So exciting! I love selling 'my babies' as it's so good to know that they are going to be worn and enjoyed and it gives me good reason to make some new pieces.

This painting will be varnished with two layers of gloss varnish as that seems to really make the colours pop! Then it's going in my shop!!!

Tomorrow I'm off to town to spend some of my art vouchers that I got for my birthday in my fave art shop!!! Yipee!!!!!!

Illustration Friday 'Old Fashioned' and Sunday Sketches

Today I really felt the urge to paint a face with a lot more detail, lately I've been working on a more simple style of mine and my jewellery but now and again I really need to paint something a bit more!

When I saw the word for Illustration Friday I thought about one of my most favourite fashions through history. I love the look of the 1920's, the ladies were so beautiful but fragile looking. I think that it looked like a lot of fun. My Great Grandmother was in her twenties throughout the 1920's and I think that she had a wonderful time when she was younger dressing up in all the latest fashions and going out dancing. I've seen photos of my great granny when she was young and she was a very very beautiful woman. Even in her nineties I remember how striking her blue eyes were. So I tried to include those eyes in my 1920's lady!

Beautiful butterfly

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my two newest pieces that I made this week.

One is made from Japanese paper that I brought back from our recent trip and the other is made from a print of this gorgeous butterfly, with the word "Happiness" underneath, there are others with different words but I really liked this one as it was a nice postive message. I'm sure I'll be making more though as they turned out really cute!

These two are now available in my etsy shop!

Hope you're all having a great week so far! :0)

Sunday sketch 'Self Preservation'

Hi guys, this is a piece that I worked on this morning, I did a few sketches for ideas for my figurative works and this was one that really popped out at me. The whole time I was sketching and painting her she made me think of 'self preservation'. I did toy with another title of 'love yourself' but the first one really stuck with me. I guess it's about making sure you take the time out to look after yourself as well as others, so many times in life we find ourselves worrying about everyone else whether it be kids, family or friends, or even work. We forget about the most important person, yourself. You need to make sure you nurture yourself too as you can't help anyone else if you don't look after yourself first.

I'm taking some time out today and I'm off to this lovely hotel for high tea with some lovely ladies! Yippeeeee!!!!

This piece will be varnished and in my shop very soon. :0)

Have a great Sunday!

New supplies arrived today!

Hi guys I just thought I'd show you my first pieces I made with my new supplies today. I'm really loving these silver pendant dishes and the lovely chains. Most of the Japanese papers that I used are the ones that I brought back from Japan on our recent trip. I can't wait to make up some more of these pendants as I really like the shiny silver in these.

You can find these pieces in my shop http://www.etsy.com/listing/56209270/silver-round-pendant-with-japanese-paper

My newest piece and Mixed media Monday 'I've been wanting to.....'

UPDATE: Well I've been so busy working on a commission this week and I'm afraid I can't show you til it's all finished, it's a series of 3 paintings and I'm nearly finished number one! I can't wait to see it all together it's been quite a challenge.
Today I saw this weeks prompt for Mixed Media Monday and thought that my recent piece in my last post was perfect as I had been want to try making this type of necklace/pendant for quite a while, and it was the first time that I had used a cabochan. So this is my entry for Mixed Media Monday.

(this next bit is from my previous post)

I just had to share this one with you as I'm feeling quite proud of it, I tried some new things with this one and I feel like it turned out quite delicate and pretty, its also available in my etsy shop!

It has been made from a print of an original painting titled 'Precious Moment'.

I glued it inside the raw brass lace edge setting with a clear acrylic magnifying cabochon on top.

I then used a combination of a vintage brown cat's eye bead chain and antique copper curb chain 3mm to sit it on. I would really like to learn more about jewellery making as I enjoyed fiddling with this one this afternoon. I love using my prints for wearable art.

My art space

Well as promised here is a look at my new art space/office area. I managed to put some paintings up the other day so thought I'd show you what it looks like. The back wall is still a bit bare but I'm planning on doing a large canvas for that spot. I did think about tidying it up before I took the shots but then thought what's the point? hehehe. As you can see I have a few projects on the go at the moment, the other side of the area is our home office (we run our own business) I really need to get stuck into some filing but it's really hard when right next to it is my art stuff. I'm planning on finishing a few new pendants for my shop today and working some more on my commission, then I suppose I'll get round to the filing.....eventually ;0)

'Immovable' and Sunday Sketches

Well this week I got side tracked from my usual routine of coming up with a piece for Illustration Friday. But today I finally go time to sit down and work on a painting that had been in my head all week. The word for Illustration Friday was 'Immovable' and this was the image that I sketched days ago but never got to paint in time. It was sketched on card board and I was going to paint on that but I decided that this idea needed a canvas and I'm glad i went with that.

I think it's finished, and I'm thinking that once it's varnished I'll put it in my etsy shop. Soon I'll be stocking my shop with new pendants and new paintings so watch this space!

Another newie

This is another one that I experimented with last night, these lovely round vintage bronze pendants came with glass inserts. So I started making them just like I would my glass pendants then glued it into the tray. I also really like it on the leather necklace. I'm going work with resin next and some prints of my paintings and see what else I can come up with.....

I also had a go at taking a photo of myself wearing the pendants as I think that would be good to include in my shop so that people can see what they look like on.
