Sunday sketch 'Self Preservation'

Hi guys, this is a piece that I worked on this morning, I did a few sketches for ideas for my figurative works and this was one that really popped out at me. The whole time I was sketching and painting her she made me think of 'self preservation'. I did toy with another title of 'love yourself' but the first one really stuck with me. I guess it's about making sure you take the time out to look after yourself as well as others, so many times in life we find ourselves worrying about everyone else whether it be kids, family or friends, or even work. We forget about the most important person, yourself. You need to make sure you nurture yourself too as you can't help anyone else if you don't look after yourself first.

I'm taking some time out today and I'm off to this lovely hotel for high tea with some lovely ladies! Yippeeeee!!!!

This piece will be varnished and in my shop very soon. :0)

Have a great Sunday!

I think you did indeed pick the right title. Great message for all of us to look after ourselves first. You are right about most women forgetting that.
High tea? oh I am envious! I haven't done that in ages, and it is so much fun, enjoy!

Yes, we owe it to ourselves to refill the jug as it were, makes us better people and better able to serve others too - such a lesson in life - i swear it took me until i was mid thirties to learn that one and almost 40 to really practice it - still a work in progress! I will post a piece of art i bought when i was really learning this for myself, because again its style is similar to yours (and this is a different one than my last comment!). Really like your art! I will let you know once its up!

Hugs. L
