Illustration Friday 'Old Fashioned' and Sunday Sketches

Today I really felt the urge to paint a face with a lot more detail, lately I've been working on a more simple style of mine and my jewellery but now and again I really need to paint something a bit more!

When I saw the word for Illustration Friday I thought about one of my most favourite fashions through history. I love the look of the 1920's, the ladies were so beautiful but fragile looking. I think that it looked like a lot of fun. My Great Grandmother was in her twenties throughout the 1920's and I think that she had a wonderful time when she was younger dressing up in all the latest fashions and going out dancing. I've seen photos of my great granny when she was young and she was a very very beautiful woman. Even in her nineties I remember how striking her blue eyes were. So I tried to include those eyes in my 1920's lady!

Great illustration for the theme! My grandmother was in her 20's in the twenties...I wish she were still around to tell the stories.

Oh my but she is a beautiful girl. Very well done Lady. I love that shy look on her face. She's a real doll. Her eyes and those red lips. Note to self. Get some red lipstick for the season. Anyway, thanks so much for you very sweet and kind words. You are always saying something to encourage and uplift. Just know that it's coming back to you dear heart. Keep working and honing your skills as an illustrator and one of children's books. I believe that we must keep saying it until it happens. Embrace doing the hard work and watch what happens. Trust me, if this is what you really want it's going to happen. Read every book you can get your little hands on and try all kinds of media. Don't limit yourself just to one. Try them all and mix it all up and see what happens with that. Most of all encourage yourself. Be proud of your hard work. Show it off. Share it. I believe that we are greater a whole lot greater than we think we are. Keep it moving forward my friend. Thanks again for the beautiful birthday words.
Big Hugs
