My 100th Post and my first giveaway!!!

Hi everyone, well this post is my 100th post and I can't believe I've actually done this much art! Last year after pretty much ten years without drawing or painting or doing anything creative, (due to work, kids and being side tracked by life in general) I managed to get back into the art scene with a bit of help from my lovely cousin Clarey!! Clarey has written a book which she asked me to illustrate. This is still a work in progress but from starting to sketch ideas for the book I managed to open my mind and tap into my art in a way that I never have before. This is also due to the fact that I discovered the world of blogging. For someone who doesn't really have the time due to kids to do a full on course I have found that blogging has inspired me in ways I couldn't have imagined. I feel like I'm participating in a course every day just by visiting my blog friends and discovering new artists on the net. Participating in Mixed Media Monday and Illustration Friday have also been fantastic ways to get creative and keep being creative. I'm totally addicted to these two weekly challenges!

So in honour of my 100th post I decided to give away one of my bookmarks with the charms which I made a while back. All you have to do is tell me what keeps you motivated with your art!! I shall pick one that I think should receive my book mark!!!

You have until September the 1oth (one week from now) to enter! :0)

I've had a very long dry spell and I'm only just beginning to get motivated again now and that would be largely due to being inspired by my fellow bloggers also...yay for blog addiction! (If only I spent as much time on my art than blog I'd have much more to show;)

Nicola, what a wonderful story! Now that you are back into art after 10 years, you must wonder how you ever managed without it!

As far as what keeps me motivated, it's a variety of things, but high on the list for me is definitely looking at my fellow artist's work each and every day. I have an Etsy addiction and just love to have a look through and see what people are creating. I also love reading blogs and finding out the stories behind the art. Another big motivator is when I sell work. It's such a high when people love your work enough to part with their hard earned money and it never gets old. Seeing my collectors excited about my art just makes me want to paint like crazy!

Nicola, Congratulations on your 100th post! What a great anniversary!

I would love to be part of your giveaway! It would be so much fun to get something tangeable from an on-line friend. I appreciate your comments and visits to my blog!

My biggest motivation is reaction of other people to my artwork. It makes me feel terrific when they enjoy it, and I especially like seeing the artwork displayed at their houses. I treasure those photos and I am so proud to brighten someone's life.

Nicola,

Add me in on your give away! Thank you for your kind comments. These necklaces are made much like the marble magnets. You can google that and find info on them. Also Etsy is a great place to find supplies for getting your art wearable. Have fun with it and good luck!

Congratulations Nicola! Having just entered my second month in Blog land, I can only imagine how proud you must feel to have completed 100 posts! Thank you for your kind messages, and I hope your son had a good first week of school too!
What keeps me motivated? Well, my husband calls art "my fix," something that I must do (or should do) to save myself from being crabby. After so long of doing the same dishes, cleaning the same house, being within the same walls (yes, I'm an at-home Mom) art is that thing that keeps me inspired, motivated and excited to do something just for me. It allows me to dream.
Having said that, it is also very important to have something to give to my baby -- a rememberence of how deeply I love her -- something I sometimes fear she will forget when she becomes a bratty teen. . . Almost all of the art I do is inspired by her.
Thank you for making me think about it, and again, congratulations to you!

Congratulations Nicola! I was going to stop by today but you beat me to it! Bloggin' is so time consuming..but as you've stated in your 100th post (congatulations!), you're right..it's so worthwhile..and it truly is like being with your peers and learning a bunch a long the way.

I am motivated each day by many things...growing older is one. I know that this world is a tough place as you get older, so I'm striving to make a living for myself and family until I can't pick up a paintbrush anymore. LOL...! I hope that I can still be with my kids through all of my career, and art brings such joy to me, that I hope that I can do this in my old age. #2, my kids and family. I just am motivated by hearing what my hubby and most especially my 8 and 10 year old girls have to say about every scrap, sketch, detail, etc. of my work. I just love their comments. and #3...I am motivated by Illustration Friday and my blogging buddies like yourself, that give me the kick in the pants to do more and more..

THANK YOU, Nicola..for motivating me!! Like I said, you're a firefly lighting my path. : )
