Sunday sketches and Illustration Friday - Afterwards

Hi everyone, yesterdays market was really good, although we had terrible weather yet again, it's so cold over here for this time of year, so the turn out wasn't as big as we'd hoped. I still managed to sell quite a few pieces and it was very good experience for me. I've signed up to do another one next month so I'm going to work on building up my pieces and presenting my stall alot better.

Today I just did a couple of sketches for the theme for Illustration Friday 'Afterwards'. When I thought about this word a few things came to mind. A lady on a train station platform after she's said goodbye to the love of her life.......a mother after giving birth to her baby, all calm and quiet and completely exhausted after a very long labour!

Hope you're all having a great weekend! :0)

I love these illustrations--they look like they belong in a book. I'm glad to hear that you did fairly well in spite of the weather. That's such a big factor when it comes to doing these fairs.

nice. i can read both of those emotions in their faces...the mother after birth def has a contented tired face...nicely done.

Great job on these two, love the one with the baby especially - as a mother those first few moments after baby is born are so precious!

Really great news about your stall. Good for you getting out there and marketing your wonderful pieces! Inspires me!

Well done Nic. Again I'm in awe of your ability to portray emotion so well. Having once had to say 'goodbye' to the love of my life in an airport, I can see me in your first sketch [although without the hat!]. xxx

Beautiful sketches. I really love the one with the mother and her child after labor. That is exactly how I felt so I can relate.

Nice drawings, I like how you leave a bit of a white outline around them.
