My new experiment...

Well I ordered a resin kit off etsy as well as some little lockets and pendant setting thingies (sorry wasn't sure of the technical term for those but you know what I mean).

I had a great time experimenting with using prints of my paintings as well as some Japanese paper and this is how they turned out. The resin itself was quite easy to use and seems to have hardened like it should over night. The things that I could have done better would be to cut the pictures to size more accurately and also I think I should have some how sealed the prints before putting on the resin as they bled a little, I did try sealing some with Diamond glaze but I don't think that was the right stuff. Does anyone know what to recommend?

Nicola,
Your new experiments are adorable. I wish I could provide you some advice but I do not know anything about what you're asking. I've only made a handful of the glass pendants myself. Sure hope someone can help you. :)
Happy Wednesday!

I love your pendents Nicola, they're so sweet. I'm not sure what you could seal it with. Myself I do really light coats of good old hairspray and build up a couple of layers. The bad thing is it will give a mat finish. I imagine though you could do the same thing with a spray gloss varnish too and then it wouldn't come out dull. I'm sure there probably is a more proper way of doing it but when I'm desperate hairspray is wonderful!

I love the new pendants! The frames make them look vintage. Very cool!!! I would love to work with resin. I may have to try it some day!!

Hi Nicola,

I am not sure what you would use to seal your work first, but I bet an art store would know. I love these - so original! Have a great time on your trip and let me know if you come up with some travel secrets for air travel with small boys! I'll need all the help I can get in the fall.

Hi Nicola, thank you so much for your sweet comment about my painting! :) Your pendants look great, your prints are perfect for them! I am actually experimenting with using resin to make pendants too. I didn't seal them the first time and my prints went transparent :( The instructions on my resin says to seal them with a white glue. Haven't tried it yet, but hopefully it will work! Good luck, they look beautiful so far! :) ~Lauren

By the way, my second and third email also bounced back, but I sent out a fourth one to your Facebook email address today. Let's hope that it will reach you! :)

Hi Nicola! Your new pendants are beautiful! Love your mermaid painting. It's perfect as your sweet banner too. As for protection, I use a spray varnish to seal it. Hope that helps. Also, thanks so much for your sweet visit! Glad to know I'm not the only one. A big congrats on your upcoming renovations too! Have a wonderful weekend! :)
