Hope you've all had a great week.....
Well this week I have been working on a couple of ACEO's I ordered in loads of these ACEO sized chipboard pieces ready for me to paint on! So I couldn't wait to get to work. I managed to finish two this week in between planning for a new mural and working on a new papier mache project with the Year 3/4's. I'm hoping to have something to show you next week regarding that!
So my first ACEO is my Redheaded Dancer.
She is painted in acrylics!
I decided to pretty up the back a bit by using Japanese paper which I then covered with a coat of diamond glaze for protection and shine. I also varnished my painting with a coat of varnish!
Then I created this burlesque beaty.
The back!
I really enjoyed working on such a small scale and getting in as much detail as possible. I can see why these ACEO's can become addictive! :0) I'm already working on my next one so will show you that one next week! :0)I just wanted to leave you with some pics of another 'paint party' I was involved with last week. This is a fun project I did with one of my preschooler groups. I set up the paints as usual but this time I put things like tooth brushes, cotton buds and twigs and bark for them to use as well as rollers. Their mission was to create a face (like mine in the background) by using those tools instead of a brush.
This is the after shot! I'd forgotten how messy things could get! ;0)
They had a great time and it was interesting to see how they all used these tools differently.
Some didn't get as far as painting a face but had so much fun experimenting with the different textures......
Others managed to create a face with the tools. They had a great time and it was a really interesting exercise!
Now I'm off on a 'date night' with my 5 year old boy! :0) He is very excited we're going to eat Thai!!! I shall visit you all over the weekend! :)

I love date nights with my son too. We're going to the cinema today!
Great pieces Nicola and it sure looked fun with the kids!!
Smashing ACEO's, didn't know you could order chipboard pieces this size. Happy PPF, Annette x
Oh, yes. They are very addictive. :)) I first couldn't imagine why someone would want to paint this small but then when I started I couldn't stop. It's just a fabulous feeling you can accomplish a whole painting in such short time. :) Your girls are fabulous!
your ACEOs are gorgeous and I love the touch of adding the beautiful paper to the back of them! it is great fun to do art work so miniature!
Good work with the new ACEOs! The size of them makes me nervous to attempt in acrylic but one of these days I shall give it a go. :)
Looks like you had a fun Paint Party!

Man oh man, you must be the bravest woman alive, Nicola, to supervise painting with a passel of pre-schoolers! Love the results they got! Your ACEOs are beautiful. I've done ATCs but only collages, not paintings. And to prettify the back like you did makes your paintings extra special.
Very cool Nicola!! Love your girls!!
And messy can be good sometimes!
Happy PPF!
I love your atc's, particularly the girls. Nice!!
Beautiful! Love the dancer and the burlesque beauty. Well done. Happy PPF

That IS a cool paint party! And your tiny painted ladies are fabulous! I love that you varnished them - I bet they have a lovely sheen. Thanks for your sweet comment too ;) xo!

Sweet ATCs and seems like it was a fun party! Happy PPF!
Love the aceos, and your student's work is priceless. Hope you had a fun date with your boy.
Love your ACEOS and double love that you worked that way with the kids. And of course, their art is spectacular.

Lovely ACEOs! And great idea to do the background that way! looks lovely.
Your ACEO's are wonderful--I have trouble making my fingers (and thus, my brush) cooperate, when i do something that tiny! Sketching, yes, painting, not so much...
Hope you had a fun night with your son--
Love your ladies! ACEOs are so much fun. My entry is also on an art card. I only wish you could blow them up on the computer to a larger print.
Love your ACEO's
