Hi guys this week I wanted to share with you a commission that I have been working on. I'm not sure it's finished yet but I'm at that point that I am reluctant to do anymore to it if you know what I mean.
I was asked by my client if I could do a painting for his nephews Baptism but in my particular style. He has also asked me to paint two candles but I haven't started those I'll share those with you later.
The figure is Jesus holding a baby although I think each person could find something different in it.
What do you think any tips or suggestions?
I've never painted this sort of subject matter before so I'm quite outside my comfort zone but enjoying the challenge :0)

good for you going outside your comfort zone, that's not easy. Nice work.
Nicola I think this is beautiful! I love your style, it is so unique, I have never seen any like it. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing.
:)
Its beautiful as it is Nicola, you have such a great style. Annette x
very nicely done... I know what you mean about comfort zone, I'm felling out of mine with the palette I'm working on!
You already know they love your style so they will most likely love this. It is lovely.
Nicola, I think it's beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing ;o) Take Care ;o)

I love your style...and thse butterflies...amazing!
I think it's great Nicola. I wouldn't change a thing either. Very nice.
The butterflies are gorgeous! Love how you did your blog header with them. I think your painting of Jesus is perfect and your client will love it.
really cool piece
Lovely work with motion and emotion. Well Done! Love to see the finished piece. ;)
I immediately recognised it as a religious image, if that is any encouragement to you.
Love your new header- those butterflies deserve to be seen on a regular basis!
As for your new painting- I love how simple it is. It allows the viewer to interact and decide what they're seeing. Usually when you're reluctant to do anymore, it means the piece is finished. Personally, I can't see anything that could be improved upon :)
Happy PPF ( a day late ;))

I hope you will share the finished image when you make the final stroke. It is lovely. Happy PPF!
I think it's off to a very good start. I think your client is going to love the finished piece. I've never done a religious piece but have been thinking about doing one recently. You have given me inspiration and the courage to give it a try!
Wonderful... This painting is true to your style and I would trust your gut when it tells you you're finished :)
Looking forward to seeing your candles...

I love it. Scarely going outside our comfort zone isn't it. But you did well I think.
I see the inner light shining through, Just my opinion I think I'd darken the outside, maybe a deep blue. So you focus more on the subject matter, Red is such a bold color and the eye tends to pull away from your center image. Again just my opinion, and tastes very greatly. I do Love your focal point!!! Either way I'm sure your client will LOVE it!

Lovely the way it is.
You created a beautiful serene and touching art piece.
Annabelle : )
I love your unique style! The painting is lovely.

Seems like a perfect image for a baptism or christening. Is the nephew an infant? I think the client is going to be very pleased. It really invokes a sense of enveloping safety and love.
