Paint Party Friday and Sunday Sketches - Working hard.

Hi guys, well I have not had much time to create or post this last couple of weeks, first up my eldest 'baby' turned 10! Still can't believe he's double figures already! So we had lots of party planning, shopping cleaning etc.....

Then this last week I was called into work to cover a sick teachers assistant at school. Normally I'm there for the art program where I paint murals and do all sorts of different projects with the children. This week I was also assisting the Junior school as well as doing the art. I got to work with the preschoolers, kindies and year 1 and 2! I've been thinking for a while now about pursuing some studies in early childhood eduction and I think I  may have found my niche! I had such a wonderful time working with the children and would be happy to do that full time! So we shall see. It's certainly food for thought.

So I didn't have much time to create this week but I do have this blue sugar skull lady to show you. I felt I needed to create one in a different colour and I love how she turned out.

I also thought I'd show you some pics of my latest project I completed this week with the year 1 and 2 children. I was asked to do a city scape project with them as they are learning about their community etc. So I made up a city scape of my own to show them then helped them create their own. I introduced them to the mixed media concept and they had a great time with paint, coloured and textured paper and pens and pencils, I'm really proud of them for what they came up with I will show more pics when they are on display but these are a couple from my first group.....

This was my design that I made to show the kids!

They started by painting their backgrounds then spent their time cutting out the buildings and arranging them on the paper. They added the details to create perspective and the feeling of a busy city!

This one is a crane building a bridge! Oh and of course Batman is climbing up the building....heheheh
I really love how they got the concept of overlapping the buildings to make it really look like a city scape.
LOVE the 3D element that some of these kids added to theirs!!! Oh and the one at the front with the '50% off' sign was created by my 6 year old, he knows his mother loves a bargain heheh!

So proud of the children and all their creations. What a great week! :)

I will try my very best to get round to as many of you guys as possible! :)

Paint Party Friday and Sunday Sketches

Hi everyone,

Life has been getting in the way of art again! I have been very busy getting ready for a market that I did last weekend. And there always seems to be something that we have to rush off to! So I'm up early on a Saturday morning and I thought I'd update my blog while it was nice and quiet! :)

Here is my collection for work that I've been working on since my last post!

This is another coloured prisma pencil piece!

I really enjoyed this painting, it was a quick 20 minute exercise. I was actually looking for reference photos of the singer 'Seal' as I was thinking of doing a portrait of him but I got side tracked by all these cute photos of seals hehehehe. I liked working with muted colours for a change.

This piece was an idea that popped into my head and I just had to get it down onto paper, it's watercolour paint and prisma pencils.

This was an exercise I tried, using my colour pencil on black paper, it was interesting to work on this as I found starting on black paper changed the way I saw my drawing!

I'm thinking of doing a Burlesque market in August so have been working on some paintings inspired by this theme!

Even though my market was disappointing last weekend I have had some orders on line for things, this is my latest order. An A3 sized print of 'Scarlett' and a black t-shirt with her print on! This shirt is for a man which has been nice! It's good to know that all sorts of people like my work!

Lastly I just wanted to leave you with some pics of my set up of my stall for last week. Even though I didn't do as well as I'd like I was very proud of how my stall looked and have really enjoyed seeing my paintings as prints and framing them as well as the mugs! I did sell a few things one of which was my Hand painted Owl bag!
