A new sketch and shop announcement!
Hi guys,
This week is going to be CRAZY as we prepare for our trip, I can't believe we are going to be on our way to Wales this time next week.
I wanted to let you know that as of tomorrow 22 June I shall be shutting my shop while I'm over seas and will reopen it mid August when we are settled back in. So if there is anything you have had your eye on you have until tomorrow to purchase it otherwise you will have to wait until I come back.
This sketch was one that I did in front of the tele yesterday, I would love to paint it but probably won't get a chance this week as we are frantically packing and getting ready for our trip! I hope to do quite a few sketches whilst on my trip and can't wait to be inspired!!! Yay!!!

Illustration Friday-Paisley and Sunday Sketch
This last one is Rhys' master piece!
I finally managed to squeeze in an illustration Friday piece! This weeks word is Paisley and this is what I came up with. I started with a sketch of the girl and didn't know what I was going to do with her as she was just a doodle in front of the tele then I started adding paisley to her body and it grew into a tattoo like design, I then painted it with these new pastel acrylic paints that I picked up the other day and outlined the paisley design with coloured pen!
My eldest Rhys also had a go at the paisley design, I started him off and once he understood the concept had a great time with it!

Here are my new pendants
Finally got the camera back from the husband so took these photos of the pendants I made from my last two canvas'. I'm hoping to do a couple from the ACEO's before I finally pack up the most of my art stuff :0( I really can't wait to set my my new art space once the renovations are done!!! :0) not long now!
I really like how you can still see the texture of the paintings in this small size and how they look as pendants!! :0)

A couple of little ones......
'In Bloom'
'Precious Moment'
Hi everyone, this weekend amongst the packing for our trip etc I managed to paint these two little ACEO's. They are in acrylic and are the size of a playing card. I bought a packet of ready cut ACEO cards for acrylic paint a while ago and found them again the other day while I was packing. I'm desperately holding off on packing up my art stuff but by bit it's getting packed away so I'm making the most of every minute I get to paint.
These two are titled 'In Bloom' (pregnant lady) and 'Precious moment' for the mother nursing her baby. I'm loving this type of art and exploring where it will take me, I found it really helpful to work in this small size to try out a few ideas and would like to make them into canvas paintings eventually. I think I could also make a really beautiful glass pendant from both paintings so I shall get on to that. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the camera back off hubby to take a picture of the two pendants I made from my recent paintings in this style, they really look eye catching as a pendant. So stay tuned as I'm hoping to post that up tomorrow. Happy Sunday everyone!!! :0)

A New Painting
Hi everyone, well this week I have been working on a new painting which I know looks very much like my painting from last week. I have been asked by quite a few people if my painting from last week was for sale. I'm afraid it's not as it was actually painted with myself and my boys (including hubby) in mind and is now hanging in our hallway! This new one was painted for my brother's beautiful partner which represents them and his girls. I hope she likes it.
I decided that this one didn't need dragonflies or anything else around it and concentrated more on the colours and shades. I have sketched quite a few different ideas for this style of art and will experiment with lots of colours, I find this type of art very therapeutic.
I don't normally post my paintings before the recipient has received it but Sian is actually living in Wales so I wanted her to see it before I posted it off!!!

'My world' Canvas & Mixed Media Monday 'Personal Symbols and Myths'
Hi everyone, this week I've been busy on this painting. It is inspired by Mixed Media Monday's theme which was 'Personal Symbols and Myths'. What seems to pop up in your work. A recurring theme in my pieces is 'family'. I think my family influences alot of my work especially my boys. This painting is actually from a tattoo that I designed for myself a few years ago. It represents my husband, myself and my boys and how I feel about our family unit. Another thing that keeps popping up in my work is Dragonflies.
This is a quote from something that I found about the meaning of Dragonflies:
"The main symbolisms of the dragonfly are renewal, positive force and the power of life in general. Dragonflies can also be a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. Also, as a creature of the wind, the dragonfly frequently represents change. And as a dragonfly lives a short life, it knows it must live its life to the fullest with the short time it has – which is a lesson for all of us".
I've noticed that dragonflies seem to pop up in my work from time to time and I think they fit perfectly with the theme of my painting, I'm trying to enjoy my young family to the fullest even though sometimes the boys test my patience. They won't be little forever and one day will grow up and leave home and I know I'll be missing these crazy hectic days.
I glued tissue paper and patterned paper to the canvas, then I painted it black, then on top of that I painted my picture. The photo (taken by Rhys my 7 year old) is of my tattoo which is hard to tell from this picture but is on my shoulder and not overly big, it's a constant reminder of my family unit which i hold very dear to my heart!
